How to Create a WhatsApp Account with a Chinese Temporary Number

Setting up a WhatsApp account with a Chinese temporary number is a practical solution for users who need access to the app without exposing their personal phone number. This approach is especially useful when a Chinese number is required — for business purposes, managing separate profiles, or simply keeping personal contact details private. Here is how to do it using a virtual Chinese number from HeroSMS.

1. Select the country — On HeroSMS, choose China as the country and WhatsApp as the service. The platform will show available virtual Chinese numbers with their current prices.
2. Purchase the number — Click the cart icon to buy the virtual number. It will appear immediately in your HeroSMS account under My Purchases.
3. Register on WhatsApp — Open WhatsApp and start the account setup process. When the app asks for a phone number, enter the Chinese virtual number provided by HeroSMS.
4. Retrieve the verification code — Return to your HeroSMS account. The WhatsApp SMS code will appear on the activation card within seconds. Enter the code into WhatsApp to complete registration.

If no code arrives within 20 minutes, the cost is automatically refunded to your HeroSMS balance. You can purchase a new number and retry immediately.

Who Uses Chinese Virtual Numbers

• Platform registrations — Users who need to sign up for Chinese apps and services such as WeChat, Alipay, Taobao, Douyin, or JD.com that require a local Chinese number at the point of registration.
• Regional pricing access — Shoppers and gamers who register accounts using a Chinese number to access China-region pricing on global platforms like Steam, where regional price differences can be significant.
• Social media managers and marketers — Professionals managing multiple accounts across platforms use disposable numbers to keep business and personal profiles separate without committing a real number.
•  Developers and automation users — Anyone building tools or automating account creation integrates HeroSMS numbers via API for reliable, high-volume Chinese number provisioning.
• Privacy-conscious users — People who prefer not to link their personal phone number to new accounts, reducing exposure to spam and data brokers.

Benefits of a Chinese Temp Number

• Privacy from day one — Using a disposable number during registration keeps your personal phone number out of third-party databases, reducing exposure in data breaches and cutting unwanted marketing contacts.
• Protection against SIM swap attacks — A virtual number has no physical SIM card attached to it, eliminating the main vector for SIM swap fraud that targets personal mobile numbers tied to online accounts.
• No SIM card required — The entire process runs over the internet. There is no need to purchase a Chinese SIM, arrange international roaming, or own a second device.
• Geographic flexibility — A Chinese number lets you register accounts that appear locally based in China, which is useful for accessing region-specific pricing, local services, and geo-restricted platforms.
• Combine with a VPN for maximum anonymity — Pairing a Chinese virtual number with a VPN set to a Chinese server prevents location-based profiling during registration, complementing the privacy provided by the disposable number.
• Automatic refund guarantee — If no code arrives within 20 minutes, the cost is returned to your HeroSMS balance instantly, with no manual claim required.

Tips for Receiving SMS Codes with a Chinese Number

• Try a different number if the first one fails — Some numbers may be blocked by the service or previously used. Switch to a new one and retry; HeroSMS supplies 500,000+ numbers daily.
• Match your VPN location to the number's country — Set your VPN to China when using a Chinese virtual number. A geographic mismatch between your IP and the number's origin can trigger verification failures on some platforms.
• Clear cookies and cache before verifying — Online services track previous verification attempts. Using incognito mode or clearing browser data prevents platforms from flagging your session.
• Check your internet connection before assuming the code is delayed — A simple refresh or reconnection resolves most apparent delivery issues without needing to purchase a new number.
• Use "Any Other" for unlisted services — If your target service is not in the main list, selecting "Any Other" routes the number through a general pool that covers the vast majority of platforms.
• Contact support if problems persist — HeroSMS support is available around the clock and can suggest alternative numbers or troubleshoot specific service issues.
